That’s What She Said–In Utah This Week

To read this week’s column click here.

I’d attempt to write something clever but, I’m very busy trying to find cheerful music to cover the sounds of rain outside. So far Magnetic Fields is only further depressing me. Any cheerful music suggestions?

Every time you share me I won't punch a kitten!

I never watched Sex And The city… actually until just reading your column, I thought it was Sex In The city (no lie!).

I don’t know what music would cheer you up.. I’m so bad, when I am down I listen to depressing music and get more down.

Ok, I need to end this entry now because it’s bringing me down and I’m having a good day!

#1) The Weepies are fun! New(ish) album is great!

#2) Can’t help with the rain blues. . .I live (happily) in Seattle. :-)

#3) Oh no. SATC sucked. I have proof. http://withmylou.blogspot.com/2008/05/gray-in-city.html

Sounds like you need a dose of Francis and the Lights. Go to their site, listen to the song “striking”. Rinse. Repeat. Enjoy.

Bungle in the Jungle – Jethro Tull (satisfies my jungle fever, sort of)
Ain’t Nothing Wrong with That – Robert Randolph & the Family Band
    Musicology – Prince
    Crazy – Gnarls Barkley
    How we operate – Gomez
Must Be Dreaming – Frou Frou
You Know My Name – Chris Cornell
    Banana Pancakes – Jack Johnson
    Offbeat Bare Ass – 311
    Swagger – Flogging Molly
    Labels or Love – Fergie
Walk this Way – Run-D.M.C. ft Steve Tyler and Joe Perry
    It’s Amazing – Jem
The Heart of the Matter – India.Arie
Sex and the City Movie Theme – Pfeifer Broz. Orchestra

    Just a suggestion or two.

I honestly tried to watch this show once. I really did. Other than Kim Cattrall (who I had a crush on back in the 80s) being naked a lot, this show has absolutely nothing to offer except really unrealistic portrayals of super-materialistic and extremely hateful women. I managed to get in about 20 minutes worth before I felt like slapping the lot of them, so I had to turn away. Haven’t seen a second since.

I am so stoked about the SATC movie. I really thought I would be there opening weekend. My SATC BFF lives on an island far, far away, so I feel a bit like I might be cheating, but she won’t be home until August and that’s just not going to work. My husband inadvertantly got hooked on the show because he had no poker night to attend EVER during my SATC with BFF and Riesling evenings and he’s more than willing to go, but we can’t seem to find a time that works for both of us. He is also secretly concerned that he might appear gay. I’ve instructed him to leave his wedding band at home so people will just have to wonder. Anywho… I think I’m Miranda. Sigh. Minus the “I’m gay” part that was QUITE apparent to me during the series, I guess my gay-dar was up and running just fine. Sorry for the long post… MIKA makes me VERY happy. Here’s his MySpace Music page with a couple of tracks. (He also did “Grace Kelly”) His whole CD is filled with mostly upbeat tracks. He’s also a part of, what I like to call, the Gay Piano Player genre (Freddie Mercury and Rufus Wainwright are members) which is my favorite genre of all AND it’s a most fitting theme considering your all around Gay mood. Enjoy!

Can I be the gay guy you cheat on your gay husband with?

I’m digging Coldplay’s Viva La Vida. Kind of peppy.
    Miss you.
